North Korea for Travel?

So, how was your Spring Break in Florida or Cancun or wherever?  Did you have fun?  Did you get wasted and see some tits?

I bet it was a blast.

But did you get an entire hotel to yourself?

Did you get your own personal guards?

Whenever you went to a restaurant did they make sure that they table was set for the perfect amount of people in your party and clear out everyone else?

Did they throw an Olympic Opening Ceremony type spectacular just for you?

Did the locals treat you like an evil American Imperialist?

When your guards/tourist guides woke you up every morning at 6:00 AM were you worried that they were there to haul you off to prison for life?

Of course not!  Because you didn't go to North Korea.

I just finished watching a 14 episode (approximately 4 minutes each) documentary by Shane Smith titled the, The Vice Guide to North Korea and it is probably one of the most interesting things I have seen in awhile. Smith and his camera man sneak into North Korea through China and they are somehow allowed to film a vast majority of their trip.  While in N. Korea the government assigns them guards, not to protect them but to make sure that the government knows where they are at all times.  I have never seen footage inside of N. Korea before that was not filmed by their government.  It is amazing what a ghost town the place is.  There are no cars, no electricity and no outside information is alowed in.  It is the land that time forgot.  It is fucking eerie.

Another great part of this film is the propaganda films that are played as intros for each episode.  They usually consist of how great and powerful Kim Jong Il is, how evil we are, and how he will destroy us.

I don't want to say too much more because I want you to watch it and it's late and I am tired and I am not above giving up good writing to catch some ZZZs.  Just watch it!

I give it a 4.8 Communist Brad Asses out of a possible 5
